Why are so many people short Tesla?

At over 20%, Tesla's short interest (the number of shares that are short as a % of floated shares) is incredibly high, especially for such a large market cap. It indicates that a lot of people are betting against the company. This is also evident in the media. Why is this happening to a seemingly successful company?
